Have you purchased a Douwes Dekker floor or are you considering purchasing it? Then the advice is to also read up on the maintenance that is best for these beautiful floors. This way you can enjoy the floor as long as possible and who wouldn't want that?! In this blog you can read some useful tips for maintaining your (future) Douwes Dekker floor as well as possible.
1. It starts at the door
Maybe a bit easy, but it really is the case; Make sure there is a good doormat at the various exterior doors and keep it clean at all times. The vast majority of the dirt that can make your floor dirty or damage it enters through these doors. In the flooring industry, this is sometimes called a clean-up zone.
2. Not sliding, but lifting
You probably know it, the one person in the family who just doesn't want to understand that a chair should be lifted instead of shoved when he or she leaves the table. This is one of the most common problem causative agents for flooring. So always try as much as possible to lift heavy furniture, or furniture in general, well when you want to move it.
3. Not too much water
Do you want to clean your Douwes Dekker floor and do you have a laminate floor or click PVC floor? Then clean with a slightly damp mop and avoid excess water in all cases. Water is and remains enemy number one for floors. Another handy tip: Do you have a floor with a nice V-groove? Check carefully that no water remains in these grooves. So always dry the floor well after you have mopped it.
4. Use the right resources
Many people choose to clean the floor with such means as all-purpose cleaner. Don't do this! All-purpose cleaner can affect the floors and no one is waiting for this. To clean and maintain these floors, only use the specially prescribed Douwes Dekker laminate cleaner or Douwes Dekker PVC cleaner. Alternatively, you could also choose our Solza laminate cleaner or Solza PVC cleaner. These products have been specially developed for your specific floor and can under no circumstances (if used correctly) cause damage to the floor.
5. Legs and wheels
With chairs or other furniture, make sure that you apply good protection to the area where the furniture comes into contact with the floor. For example, apply good felt under chair legs and place soft-type wheels under office chairs. This way you prevent unnecessary damage.
